Music @ MAC presents The Great Gatsby Jazz Funk Odyssey and Marbin

The Great Gatsby Jazz Funk Odyssey is a 4 man collective of local Western Kentucky musicians who have chosen to go against the grain of the mainstream music scene. Their vintage style is an homage to wonderful musical creativity that was developed in the late 60s and 70s as well as, their classy style of dress which is a take from the classic by F. Scott Fitzgerald "The Great Gatsby." Their aim is to create a sound that makes people get down and funky with minimal vocals and soulful improvisations. They are also the most culturally diverse band around. Four years and still jamming, The Great Gatsby Jazz Funk Odyssey has managed to hold strong to their intentions on bringing something new and exciting to the music scene in Western Kentucky coining the phrase "Kentucky Homegrown Funk." In the beginnings of the the band, they were an all out improvisational conglomeration of up to 11 member but as Zach Tapp has mentioned, "four core and 7 member ago", a much needed foundation was spawned. Even with JP (Joshua Patterson) living in Chicago and solo songwriting (Just JP), Zach Tapp who lives in Marshall County, recently becoming the proud father of a baby girl Emma Jo, Brey McCoy who lives in Louisville, being a part of multiple bands (Bawn in the Mash) and his own solo dj-ing (Freakage) and Micah Greene from Murray who is also a member of several bands, they have remained resilient in their endeavors to make music. Their first EP "The Hustler's Funk" was released in 2012 and they are making strides to different festivals across the country.
